It has been reported that .xxx domain had been put forward way back in 2005, but the decision is still jammed. The ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), is till date, flip-flopping with the idea to house all the pornography on the Web under a specific domain.

Around $5 million have already been spent by the ICM Registry as the legal fees for .xxx domain to come into being. ICANN had first agreed to the idea, but then changed its mind, claiming that this would build a virtual red light district on Web, with despicable activities ubiquitous.

To counter act this statement, proponents of .xxx domain are convinced with the idea that it will help shift all porn sites into one place on the Web, which can subsequently be blocked by the parents or in schools and colleges.

This plan may also affect the porn magnates as, their present .com sites can easily pick up traffic from sources, and whereas, shifting to .xxx domain will then have blocked access on many servers.

Although, this separate domain can clutter all the porn sites on to one place, yet, the thought that it may also lead to the cleaning up of the Internet, is absolutely like living in Cloud-Cuckoo Land.
