Cisco adds set-top business in its kitty

Entering full-fledged into the fast growing business sector is, US based electrical manufacturer and designer, Cisco Systems who has agreed on a pact with DVN Holdings, a Hong Kong based maker of hardware and software products that is an essential part of the set-top business.

This deal which is aimed at getting a strong hold on the current set-top is said to be worth around $44.5 million, with $17.5 million being paid upfront and the rest will be paid based on performance figures that Cisco will decide.

Post the deal, DVN Holdings will be characterized as a part of the Cisco Systems service provider video technology group.

This move aims Cisco to provide a strong grip in the long established production of this technology and equipment.

Despite the current situation where the entire operation is being managed from China the company being a major player within the industry will lend a hand in providing the ultimate set-top technology to its patrons.
