Bayern confirm Olic signing

Dubai - Croatia striker Ivica Olic is to join Bayern Munich from SV Hamburg at the end of the season on a three-year contract, Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness said Saturday.

Hoeness ended speculation on the striker's future by telling fcbayern. de in Dubai: "We have reached agreement. Now only the signature is missing under the contract."

Olic, 29, will officially join Bayern on July 1 on a free transfer.

German media reports said Olic can expect to earn 4 million euros (5.5 million dollars) a year and receive a signing-on fee.

Bayern arrived in Dubai early Saturday for a winter training camp ahead of the January 30 Bundesliga restart, when the German champions travel to Hamburg.

Hamburg also headed Saturday for a short training camp in Dubai and will play a friendly there on Tuesday against AC Milan.

Olic joined SV Hamburg from CSKA Moscow in January 2007 for 2.5 million euros and scored 14 goals last season to help the northerners to fourth place in the league. This season he has 12 goals in 25 games. (dpa)
