It was seen that resignation of Sir Stelios as a non Executive Director raised the internal chaos at the company. It was now being planned by the tycoon to build support for a shareholder revolt against easyJet which had plans to increase its fleet by 7.5pc a year.
"Your only weapon as a non-executive is to resign. As a shareholder I may have stronger rights as I can discuss it [the number of planes] with other shareholders without being in possession of inside information. I think profits will go up if the number of aircraft stops growing. I have given up trying to change things from the inside. Now I'm going to do it from the outside", said Stelios to The Daily Telegraph.
It was seen that Tensions regarding easyJet's growth cooled down after an agreement last year which was to limit annual growth to 7.5pc.
On Tuesday, Sir Stelios whose family owned 38pc of the airline re-opened the row. They called the outgoing Chief Executive Andy Harrison overrated.
It was told by Sir Mike Rake, easyJet Chairman that he was shocked by Sir Stelios' decision. According to him the growth rates were evaluated annually and in June 2009 the last review took place. He added that it was believed by the board that easyJet was one of the best performing airlines during the recession period.
