Scientists in Finland are revealed to have discovered that Cheese can help preserve and boost the immune system of the elderly by posing as a carrier for probiotic bacteria or "friendly" bacteria.

The research, published in FEMS Immunology & Medical Microbiology, suggests that daily consumption of probiotic cheese assist to control age-related changes in the immune system.

This age related problems means the body lacks its ability to kill tumor cells and reduces the immune response to vaccinations and infections. Infectious diseases, chronic inflammation disorders and cancer are posted to be main such changes because of Immunosenescene.

"The increase in the proportion of aged individuals in modern society makes finding innovative ways to thwart the deterioration of the immune system a priority," said lead author Dr Fandi Ibrahim from the University of Turku in Finland.

According to the scientists, these micro-organisms play as key factors for the healthy development of body's defenses and to the digestion and absorption of food and nutrients.

In addition, to being packed with calcium cheese, it contains essential nutrients also as phosphorous beneficial for strong teeth and bones, zinc for healthy skin and fertility, and vitamins for energy.
