Tim Hortons on an Expansion Spree

Following the lead of McDonald's and Starbucks, Tim Hortons Inc. is also gone ahead with its worldwide expansion spree.

Tim Hortons, which is a leading brand of coffee and doughnuts, has 3,029 stores in Canada and 567 in the U. S. The Company also boasts of 290 self-serve coffee-and-doughnut kiosks that are inside Spar convenience stores in Ireland and England.

At the annual general meeting of the Company, Chief Executive Don Schroeder promised that the company would have a new avatar in the next four years. He further added that the company was looking at exploring more options that are way beyond Canada and the United States.

He said that, "We are in the process right now of developing an international strategic plan and we are going to present that to the board next month. Later this year, assuming it is approved, we will make a further announcement about the next step".

However, Mr. Schroeder did not elaborate on what countries could be the next station for the targeted expansion.

Though, he subtly hinted that the favorites on the list were China and India as these countries showed tremendous potential.

Reports claim that the brand, Tim Hortons has made its presence in the U. S. military bases of Afghanistan, Iraq and Fort Knox, Ky. This has majorly attributed to the exposure for the brand and has provided the company with the opportunity to build long term relationship with the U. S. military
