The Leaf electric car made by Japan's third-biggest carmaker Nissan would cost less than 30,000 Euros in the European countries. This has come up after the incentives offered by governments to push the new technology.
An amount of 4 billion Euros is being invested by Nissan Motor Co and French alliance partner Renault on these electric automobiles. A striving forecast compared to those of other carmakers show that this investment will account for 10% of new car sales by 2020. Out of the total 100 million strong light vehicles in market in 2020, these electric vehicles will comprise of 4.5%.
After incentives from Portugal, the Leaf hatchback of cruising range of 160 kilometers will cost 29,955 Euros and 29,995 Euros after incentives in Ireland. The car, in Netherlands will cost 32,839 Euros and in England will be sold at 23,350 pounds.
According to Nissan, four markets in Europe have been chosen by him purposely due to, "significant government incentives for electric cars and the ongoing development of charging infrastructure for their successful adoption”.
In U. S., the price of Leaf will cut to 10% more than the $23,000 starting price for a Toyota, where the Leaf is sold at $32,780 excluding federal tax credits or other incentives.
Though the cars are due to arrive in Europe early next year, yet the registration will begin as soon as from July, for the potential customers to buy the Leaf.
