As per the Skin Care Foundation, melanoma causes the maximum fatality cases of all skin cancers. However, early detection of the same and treating it there and then can possibly save your skin.
Melanoma is a malevolent tumor, which takes its form in the cells that produce melanin, which is the pigment that fives color to our skin, hair and eyes.
It generally begins in a mole, although at times forms in other pigmented tissues, for example the eyes or intestines.
As per The American Academy of Dermatology, there are four most general types of melanoma.
In order to detect it, you can look for a mole that has irregular borders, in the premature stages it might look like a freckle, but the spot may get dark with time.
You can look for a dark pigmented laceration, however at times it can be light brown in color or it may have no color at all.
Third type is where there is a flat patch with uneven borders. It may belong to numerous shades of brown and black. Dark lumpy nodules might be there. So keep a check on them.
The fourth one is where an uneven shaped tan or brown spot on the palm or sole, or as a matter of fact, it can be anywhere on the body, look up for that.
Remember. Early detection and timely treatment can make the difference for the better. Help yourself.
