It has been reported earlier that a new disk drive which is just about 3.5 inch and also with a capacity of three terabyte will be officially ready towards the close of the year from Seagate, depending on the operating system and the vendor support for RAID and BIOS motherboard.
According to the Company, the disk drives which are addressed with accordance to the LBAs or the logical block addresses should be compatible with the operating system.
It has been made clear that Windows 7 and Windows Vista have the capacity to hold the three terabyte with long LBA which is extended.
But it was also made clear that Windows XP does not make the cut as it simply cannot hold any disk drive which has a capacity of more than 1.1 terabyte.
Alterations to the motherboard and the RAID software also have to be made and partitions might have to be reconsidered along with new partition tables. It has also been reported that this would work well and fine with Linux as well and that would mean a huge breakthrough.
