This news will surely make all the fans of Rock music very happy. In a recent announcement MTV Games and Harmonix revealed that fans of the Rock Band music simulation title will be able to download and play a set of tracks. These songs will be by the Grateful Dead and The Smithereens. The former band commands a lot of fans and has a loyal fan base of millions around the world.

These tracks will be offered on Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Nintendo Wii.

The tracks from Grateful Dead which will be available in the downloadable content package are: "Beat It on Down the Line," "Cumberland Blues," "Scarlet Begonias," "Throwing Stones," "Touch of Grey" and "U. S. Blues." These tracks are chosen for their unique fusion of blues, jazz, rock and bluegrass which is the signature style of the Grateful Dead.

Grateful Dead was started in the year 1965 in San Francisco and still continues to tour around the world.

Singles from The Smithereens include "A Girl Like You" from the album titled "11," launched in the year 1989, and the song "Only a Memory," which is from the album "Green Thoughts" from 1988.

Those who want to pick these songs need to look for the Grateful Dead Pack 03 which costs 800 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360 and 9.99 dollars on the PlayStation 3. These can also be picked individually for 160 Microsoft Points or 1.99 dollars.

Users of Nintendo Wii can get the songs for 200 Wii Points.
