There is a stress epidemic prevailing across the United Kingdom, according to a research. It is so severe that workers are under stress even when they have an off day. It has revealed that the problem is likely to get worse in the coming times.
For majority of the workforce, overcoming anxiety and stress is a very big challenge that they encounter on a daily basis. Around 23% of the people also feel highly stresses before going for work.
The study revealed that most of the workers tended to hide their condition from their superiors. The stress they face can range from work, poor management or personal difficulties with colleagues. This also generally resulted in bad health for the workers.
An earlier study had found that around eight million working people across the UK were suffering from stress at some time during their life from work. These problems resulted in depression, anxiety, sleep problems or substance dependencies in the affected persons.
Researchers stressed that people who are under stress can benefit from hypnotherapy and other such treatments to overcome their problems. It has also been noted that employers need to provide employees with more support and understanding.
Experts feel that these are a wakeup call for the industry and industry can ignore these findings at their own risk. More than 2,000 people were questioned as part of this study.
