From the new studies it was seen that by eating nuts the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol could be reduced and the blood lipids profile improves.
It was told that nuts were the matrix of healthy nutrients and were the most apparent reason for the cholesterol lowering effect is their unsaturated fat content. It was noted that nuts also included fiber, vegetable protein, phytoesterols and other antioxidants.
From the new Studies it was seen that consuming nuts could also reduced risk for coronary heart disease. It was seen that the researchers from California gathered data on 583 men and women who took part in 25 nut consumption trials conducted in seven different countries to know the effects of nut consumption on blood lipid levels.
It was seen that at the beginning of the trail the participants had normal lipid profiles and had not taking any lipid-lowering medications.
It was informed that if a person ate around 2.3 ounces of nuts a day he/she could reduce total cholesterol levels by 5% and bad LDL cholesterol by 7.5%.
"Nuts are rich in unsaturated fats, and that is a main driver in lowering cholesterol", said the lead author, Dr. Joan Sabaté, a Professor of Nutrition at the School of Public Health at Loma Linda University in California.
