First pictures of Sarah Palin’s grandson reportedly bid for $300,000

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's grandson - baby Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston - is the newest celebrity baby over which the celebrity weeklies are engaged in a war of 'shots' - looking for exclusive rights to publish his first snaps!

According to an MSNBC report, the soon-to-be-wed parents of the baby - the 18-year-old Bristol Palin, and her boyfriend Levi Johnston, a high school drop out and apprentice electrician - have made an estimated US$300,000, with People magazine finally winning the bidding war that reported began at US$100,000!

Paul Harris with Pacific Coast News, a Los-Angeles based entertainment photo agency, opined that the price tag of US$300,000 would include a photograph of the newborn, his parents and Sarah Palin as well.

Though that is not the kind of money that other famous names - like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise or Katie Holmes - command for similar bidding, it is not bad for the fairly young, unmarried couple, and could make life a little easier for them.

In fact, prices for the right to publish pictures of former US Vice-Presidential candidate's grandson skyrocketed after the news of Johnston's mother being arrested in connection with drugs. As one editor put it: "The bidding started well before the baby was born, but once Levi's mom was arrested - well, then you had a story."

However, People magazine's managing editor, Larry Hackett, said that though the magazine talked about photos with a Palin representative, a deal has not been made yet, and no money has been given to the Palins.
