R.R. Donnelley buys PROSA for $23.5 million

NYSE-listed R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, the world’s premier full-service provider of print and related services, has acquired Chilean web printing company PROSA, from Copesa (Consorcio Periodístico de Chile) for a cash consideration of approximately $23.5 million.

PROSA produces magazines, catalogs, retail inserts and soft-cover textbooks.

The company officials believe that the acquisition will strengthen RR Donnelley’s Latin American platform and complement its existing facility in Santiago de Chile. With the addition of PROSA, RR Donnelley will have 15 facilities in Latin America and the Caribbean, including operations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela.

Shares of the Chicago, Illinois-based company rose 86 cents, or 6.3 percent, to close at $14.44.
