The New South Wales Opposition Leader, Barry O'Farrell has called on for the scrapping of the Hunter Valley's controversial Tillegra Dam.
The $477 million plan is still waiting to get state planning sanction and has been strongly opposed by the Greens as a needless waste of funds.
Local inhabitants, the fishing industry and even a senior executive have raised apprehensions regarding the dam's impact.
Mr. O'Farrell agrees with the stance and is calling on the Keneally Government not to sign any agreements prior to the election.
He said that the Tillegram Dam was never about water security or anything related to that.
Firstly, it was about trying to pretend that Labor had a water scheme of the preceding state election crusade, which was also a distraction from the Labor's MP gossip.
He said that this shows that the Keneally Government needs to give its assurance that t would not go ahead with its plan regarding dam before the next state election.
The NSW Government cannot entrust the populace of the Hunter to a dam that at present the Greens are against, the opposition is against, the overpowering preponderance of the society are now opposing to it too.
