A recently released report by the Congressional International Anti-Piracy Caucus states that Canada, China, Mexico, Russia and Spain are robbing billions of dollars from Americans by not cracking down on piracy. They feel that these countries support piracy of movies, music, videogames and other copyrighted works.

These countries are at the top of the "2010 International Piracy Watch List" for the last two years. This committee consists of 70 members from the US House of Representatives and Senate. They insist that all these countries have failed to protect theft of copyrighted work.

Orrin Hatch, a Republican Senator from Utah argues that lack of intellectual property laws are leading to the loss of billions of dollars for American businesses. He goes on to accuse these countries of robbing American people.

These members feel that this should be stopped as soon as possible. According to estimates, piracy costs US Companies losses of more than $25 billion every year. A list of top offenders was also made available.

As per the list, China’s Baidu, Canada’s isoHunt, Ukraine’s MP3fiesta, Sweden's Pirate Bay, Germany's Rapidshare and Luxembourg's RMX4U are the biggest culprits.

Some US companies are also being accused of working with these websites to facilitate the theft of copyrighted work.

Microsoft also felt that piracy is the reason its software revenue per personal computer purchase is 15 times greater in the United States compared to China.
