Carlos Asks for Nothing but Attention
Olivier Assayas

The new work of Director, Olivier Assayas showcases the elusive mercenary terrorist nicknamed Carlos.

The saga that shows almost 3 decades ; revolves around Carlos as he cuts through a swath of rubble through the countries of Europe and the Middle East from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s.

The lead in the film is played by Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez. He does a brilliant job in portraying the early idealism and its slow decomposition as a man who posses equal parts of rage and intelligence.

The catch of the character is that Carlo asks nothing of the moviegoers but their attention, he passes no judgment, and lets the repercussions of his deeds to speak for themselves.

The plot is so gripping that though the audience does not leave the side of Carlos, yet they never seem to be on his side.

As per the experts, Assayas uses the magic trick yet again wherein the audience would just watch the mercenary killing its preys, like an act of nature.

The disappointing factor of the movie is the time frame of the movie. From a theatrical point of view 5.5 hrs is too much to ask for from the moviegoers.

Reports suggest that due to the length of the movie there have been many walk outs from the balcony of the Grande Theatre Lumiere, and only half of the seats could remain filled by the end of the film.
