Miley Cyrus Jewelry Line Pulled Off From Wal-Mart

According to the latest reports, Wal-Mart has pulled off the entire Miley Cyrus-brand necklaces and bracelets from its shelves.

Following the test results that were performed for The Associated Press, it was discovered that the jewelry items contained a toxic metal, cadmium. In the wake of the findings the jewelry line was pulled off from the shelves.

The company along with Cyrus and Max Azria issued a joint statement announcing the recall of the jewelry.

It is believed that the jewelry was exclusively designed for the world's largest retailer and was designed by Max Azria, for the17-year-old Hannah Montana star.

According to the experts, cadmium in jewelry is not dangerous if the items are only worn.

They further explain that the situation becomes worrisome when the youngsters bite or suck on the jewelry.

According to the experts, the long-term exposure to cadmium may lead to bone softening and kidney failure. Researchers also suggest that the toxic metal can hinder brain development in the very young.

Wal-Mart explained that though the jewelry was not intended for children, there is a remote possibility that a few younger consumers may buy it from the stores.

Wal-Mart said in a statement that, "We are removing all of the jewelry from sale while we investigate its compliance with our children's jewelry standard".
