Jackson Safety acquires New York-based EMI

Fenton -based Jackson Safety has notified that it has acquired the assets of a New York manufacturer of work zone safety equipment.

The firm closed its purchase deal with Batavia, N.Y.-based EMI, a division of Highway Safety Devices International, in October.

However, the financial terms of deal were not disclosed by the company, but Jackson expects the acquisition to boost its market share in the traffic safety industry.

Jackson Safety engages in the manufacture and supply of industrial and traffic safety products. It provides welding safety products for on the job site and do-it-yourself welding applications.

The company has facilities in the United States and Canada, as well as a plant in Belmont, Michigan. It currently employs 450 workers.

Jackson reported revenue worth $135.8 million in 2007.
