You can now rent TV shows or the whole series through Seesaw’s improved site which offers free TV programs from the BBC, Channel 4 and Five with advertising before each episode.
With agreement, having been made between Comedy Central, BBC Worldwide and MTV so far, the new premium service gives customers the chance to buy shows from wider broadcasters.
Individual episodes of shows such as South Park, The Hills and Gavin and Stacey cost between 99p and £1.19. Full series cost between £3.99 and £17.99 depending on how many episodes there are and how recent it is. Once you have paid, you can then stream the rentals for 48 hours.
Other changes that SeeSaw has made to its site include a mini-TV guide, global A-Z and the option to resume content from where it stopped – in the same way you can on BBC iPlayer. It has also added sharing buttons.
With technology bought from project kangaroo, SeeSaw, an internet TV service was launched in February which was blocked by the Competition Commission because it was seen as having the potential to dominate and dilute the online catch-up TV market.
