Indian Airplane Crash about 158 Feared to Death

A passenger jet overshot a runway, gone down the valley and ruptured into flames on Saturday morning in Southern India. There is a fear of death of 158 people who were travelling in the plane. 127 bodies have been recovered at by the rescue team at the wreckage site outside Mangalore International Airport in the mid-afternoon.

Out of 166 people only eight have survived and were taken to the hospitals. The Boeing 737 took off from Dubai and while trying to make its scheduled landing it was crashed in Mangalore airport at 6:30 a. m. Saturday (9 p. m. ET Friday).

According to the witnesses, the plane crashed through the hilltop airports’ periphery wall and then fell into a valley. The ones who survived said that they jumped out of the plane after it was crashed and few seconds before it burst into fire. It was a difficult task for the rescue workers to reach the crash site in a hilly wooded area beyond the runway moreover, smoke from the plane also hindered rescue operation.

Of the passengers, 32 were women, 105 were men, 19 were children and four were infants and six members were from crew. Financial aid for the victims has been announced by the Prime Minister of India and he has also canceled the events scheduled at his residence to mark the end of his first year in office. There were no reports of any problem from pilot before landing but the investigations are going on to find out what had exactly happened to the airplane.
