24 Types of Cancers Found More in Type 2 diabetics: Study

For people suffering from Type 2 Diabetes, a new research comes as warning as it suggests that these patients are more at a risk of developing 24 types of cancers.

This has been concluded by the largest study ever conducted on the risks of cancer that are found in people suffering from Type 2 diabetes.

This research was a combined effort of Kari Hemminki of DKFZ and some researchers from Sweden and the United States and it observed 125,126 Swedish citizens who suffered from the disease and were therefore hospitalized. The occurrence of cancer was tested and compared by epidemiologists to the general patients in Sweden.

Another major advantage of the study is that for the very first time it to deeply analyze the relationship between diabetes and cancer that do not usually occur in general patients.

According to the study, Type 2 Diabetes patients are most at risk of developing pancreatic and liver cell cancers and the rate is 6% more in case of pancreatic cancer and 4.25% in the kidney cell cancer.

Other cancers that were found to be at a high risk of occurring in Type 2 diabetics include cancers of, esophagus, small intestine, nervous system, kidneys and thyroid and the rate is two times more than others.
