Reports suggest that police are investigating a potential case of food tampering.
Calgary Police Duty Inspector, Darren Cave confirmed the reporters that a customer who had purchased ground beef from Buy-Low Foods which is located in the 200 block of 52nd Street N. E. found a piece of metal in the package.
Following the discovery, the person contacted the police.
Darren further added that the report has been passed on to the robbery unit, which was handling the investigations of a number of food-tampering complaints around the city.
The recent case is similar to an incident that occurred about six weeks ago. Early in April a customer who purchased a package of ground beef from the Buy-Low found metal pins in the same.
The objects were discovered by the customer when he was preparing the meat for cooking. Further, the meat was returned to the store after a few hours and the person notified the store manager.
Reports confirm that a woman was arrested in January and was charged after tampering incidents at the Oakridge Co-op were highlighted.
The scenario is worrisome as since January when the first case was reported, the cases of food tampering have increased around the city at different grocery store chains.
