Sea to Sky police and the Squamish fire department are inquiring an overnight blaze at the Chieftain Hotel on Cleveland Avenue in Squamish.

In a news release that was issued today, the RCMP says that it is probing into what occurred at the Chieftain Hotel.

Just before 1 a. m. on Sunday, police and fire teams answered a call regarding smoke coming out of an annex linked to the hotel by an overhead pathway.

The fire that harmed both the footpath and annex was controlled by fire squads before it could expand.

Both the hotel and the C-Level nightclub were emptied during the fire and no damages have been reported so far. An examination is in progress to find out the cause behind the fire.

RCMP has asked that anybody with information concerning the fire or who may have observed something doubtful should call Crime Stoppers or police at 604-892-6100.
