The distraught parents of Jett Travolta, actors John Travolta and Kelly Preston, opened up their hearts for the first time since his sudden death on Friday – the 16-year-old Jett died after a seizure, while he was on vacation with his family in the Bahamas.
In a statement that appeared on the official web sites of Travolta as well as Preston, the family said that Jett was a wonderful boy, who lit up the lives of all those whom he encountered. The family statement read: “We are heartbroken that our time with him was so brief. We will cherish the time we had with him for the rest of our lives.”
Extending their sincere and heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered condolences at the death of their son, the Travoltas – who also have an 8-year-old daughter, Ella – said that the support of people and their prayers “is a beautiful reminder of the inherent goodness in the human spirit that gives us hope for a brighter future.”
The family signed the note, “With love, John, Kelly and Ella.”
Jett was lying unconscious, in a bathroom at the family’s resort home on Grand Bahama, when his nanny found him. He was rushed to a Freeport hospital, where he was declared dead.
Family attorney, Michael Ossi, said that an autopsy will be performed Monday to ascertain the cause of Jett’s death; however though, it is apparent that he hit his head after a seizure.
According to Ossi, Jett’s body will be transferred to Ocala, Florida, for burial.
