US Urges China to Support Action against North Korea
Hillary Clinton

U. S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is urging China to support the international action against North Korea for the sinking of a South Korean warship, explaining that it is joint responsibility of US and China to ensure peace and security on the Korean peninsula.

Clinton added that the US administration wants to work with China in order to attain effective response to the sinking for which North Korea has been charged.

However, North Korea has denied all the charges. China meanwhile has chosen to remain neutral to the urge.

US expects China to endorse the U. N. Security Council actions on the misconduct of North Korea. But China's State Counselor Dai Bingguo responded by saying that China wants to avoid heated conflict and both the countries shall resolve the issue with calm.

China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said that Beijing certainly holds a responsibility towards the peace measures in the Korean Peninsula.

"China hopes all parties will stay calm and exercise restraint ... to avoid escalation", he said.

Mr. Jiang avoided mentioning that South Korea has claimed that it has been proven in an investigation that the North Korean North Korean torpedo split apart the navy ship Cheonan, wherein 46 sailors were killed.
