Stephen Duckett, President and CEO of Alberta Health Services, was rushed to the hospital after a severe viral illness. He was admitted to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary last week. He received treatment there and was very happy with the prompt treatment he received for his condition. It has also helped him to look at the health services from a different perspective.

Duckett maintained that he received very good care during his hospital stay. He praised all the people he came in contact with during his hospital stay -- from doctors to food services people who attended on him. He has received a lot of criticism for his policies and it is mainly due to bed .

In related news, 10 pediatric beds will open at the Stollery Children’s Hospital by September and these will replace the other beds from hospitals across the region. After these beds are introduced, it will bring the total number of beds at the hospital’s pediatric unit to 146.

Duckett also emphasized that care and treatment like this is provided on a daily basis to people around the region. But health experts feel that lot more needs to be done to improve the health standards in the region.
