Zaburoni Held under Charges of Deliberately Spreading HIV

Godfrey Zaburoni has been put to custody for being charged with purposely triggering the spread of HIV by indulging into unprotected sex with a Gold Coast woman.

The case has sparked off a health alert at national level and the authorities are alarming all the people around against unprotected sex. They are also urging the people to undergo check-ups for HIV detection.

Queensland Health told that it has received 18 calls which confirmed HIV in a number of people.

The health department hasn't yet disclosed the gender of callers but one of the spokespersons has shared that some of the caller's might have been men having indulged in unprotected sex with infected women.

He further said that it has become crucial to identify those 12 women with Zaburoni has unprotected sex in Queensland.

Zaburoni appeared in the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday under two charges. One charge was of causing bodily harm and the other was of intending to cause bodily harm.

His next hearing has been scheduled for June 9.

"Some of them believing that they have had sexual relationships with him - other people were partners of people who have had sexual relationships", said QH Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jeannette.
