HBO Protects Interest of Cable Operators, Snubs Sony Playstation
HBO Protects Interest of Cable Operators, Snubs Sony Playstation

Following the news that HBO would bring its hit series to Sony Playstation 3, the number 1 movie channel has shown a cold shoulder to Sony by delaying the same.

It is believed that HBO has been a wet blanket for the excitement of the Sony Playstation3 fans who were eagerly awaiting the hit series, True Blood on their respective Playstation devices.

Reports believe that HBO had tied up with Sony Playstation 3 to bring to the Playstation owners the hit series at a cost of $2.99.

However, the catch in the same has been that there has been an 11 month delay between cable broadcast and console downloads.

In a bid to ignore the time delay issue by HBO, Sony Playstation Chief Executive, Jack Tretton announced, “Networks like HBO can be beholden to the cable and satellite companies, or they can play wherever the consumers play”.

Commenting on the 11 month delay HBO’s Home Entertainment President, Henry McGee said that the delay was implemented so that the people can be discouraged from dropping their cable and satellite packages.

Further, as per the experts, the pricing of the HBO series per year works in favor of the cable TV users. Thus, the delay does not pinch that much.
