Following the investigations of the abandoned blood stained van, the authorities are struggling hard to determine whether the meat found in the van is of a horse or not.
Reports confirm that, an abandoned van was discovered by a rancher, who contacted the authorities. It is believed that the van was completely stained with blood and the cooler was filled with meat, that the authorities claim can be horse meat.
The ranch near which the van was found is located at Northwest 182nd Street and Northwest 131st Avenue. Since the area of Northwest Miami-Dade has a history of police finding slaughtered animals, thus the authorities are assuming that the meat could be horse meat.
Though the investigations are ongoing and the authorities have still not confirmed whether the meat found is horse meat but, according to a police officer who surveyed the scene claimed that horse hooves and horse legs were discovered from the spot.
Miami-Dade Police Spokeswoman Edna Hernandez said, "What appeared to be smeared blood on the outside of the vehicle. We discovered two coolers with meat inside of the vehicle".
According to the reports, after hours of investigations, the police have arrested 2 men and the owner of the abandoned van who was charged him loitering.
Further, the case is being investigated by the USDA and the meat has also been sent for testing in order to determine if it is horse meat or not.
