Temperatures in Shimla are rising rapidly as the city witnessed a temperature of 32.4 degree Celsius. This is the highest which has been witnessed in the city in the last 170 years of recorded data. It was higher than the earlier 31.7 degree Celsius recorded on 20 May, 2004.
This has surprised everyone including weather experts. They stress that it is normal for the temperature to cross 27 to 28 degrees but it is something surprising that it has reached such a high figure. They also point that lack of rainfall has impacted and pushed the temperatures upwards. The neighboring states are also witnessing very hot season.
Generally in India, till the monsoon season arrives, May and June are the hottest months and temperatures can reach 40 to 45 degrees Celsius at many places. Some areas have already reported that the mercury is above 50 degree Celsius mark.
The high temperatures in Shimla had an impact on the life of citizens and the markets also bore a deserted look. It also affected the tourists who felt that they were surprised that Shimla was experiencing such a high temperature.
Some felt that they could never imagine that Shimla will become so hot. Other cities in Himachal Pradesh also witnessed very high temperatures. Local residents argued that they have never experienced such a hot weather.
