Victorian MP Enquires Closure of Bendigo Hospital ward

A northern Victorian Liberal MP is has pointed out as to why the Bendigo Hospital ward has been closed following its inauguration recently.

It was inaugurated on March 12 by Bendigo East MP Jacinta Allan. It forms a part of the $55 million upgrading plan for Bendigo Hospital.

But no reasons have been provided for the closure of the eight bed ward. Also, the medical equipment has been removed.

It was inaugurated in March by Labor Minister and Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan. It has eight beds.

The Liberal Member for Northern Victoria, Donna Petrovich, said that ward has been observed to be closed since last one month.

She also pointed out that in other wards some of the patients have been given early discharge so that the new patients are accommodated.

She alleged Ms. Allan to have misguided the community.

"I've asked the [Health] Minister [Daniel Andrews] to explain why the ward's not operating and exactly when it will reopen", she said.

Bendigo Health has clarified via a statement that the ward will get opened in the upcoming weeks.

When the ward was opened for the first time, eight patients were admitted immediately. They were put under the supervision of three nurses.
