Senior Palm Employee Joins Google

Google will surely benefit from Matias Duarte, Vice President of human interface and user experience at Palm. This is the first high profile functionary who has left Palm since Hewlett-Packard announced plans to overtake the Company. He will serve as user experience Director for Android in Google.

Experts feel that he will be of great help to Google and will help the Company to further develop and popularize Android.

Before working at Palm, Duarte worked for Helio, a mobile virtual network operator. He had earlier worked for Danger.

Even though Palm's phones have failed to gain a place in the competitive smart phone market, their WebOS User Interface has been widely appreciated.

HP had announced last month to take over Palm for US$1.2 billion. It pointed that it will invest aggressively in product development and also use WebOS to power tablet computers.

Many feel that Duarte brings a wealth of experience and acumen and this will help Google a lot in further improving Android and increase its dominance in the smart phone market.

Google also plans to use Android in more devices like tablets, net books and various other computing devices. Android has already become the second most popular OS in the US market after BlackBerry. It has become a serious problem for Apple iPhone which has been losing market share to Android.
