Wireless Industry: FCC’s Target

The Federal Communications Commission, which has been taking a beating on planned Net neutrality system, is tying up the gloves once more, for this time to have a fight with wireless carriers.

Whilst more than a small number of the wireless carriers are the similar companies going toe-to-toe with FCC Chairman, Julius Genachowski over Net neutrality, the most recent scrap is regarding a very diverse issue that is, billing. More specially, those appalling bills consumers say they get occasionally from their wireless suppliers.

The FCC has been trying to look into the wireless industry's billing actions and stressing upon carriers regarding their premature termination of fees for a moment. But it appears that Genachowski, who was in office at the FCC for less than a year ago, has strengthened the inspection.

Starting last August, the FCC initiated a proceeding to inspect how consumers could be given power to make learned decisions regarding their communications services.

In the month of January, the FCC as well sent letters to the nation's four leading cell phone suppliers and Google, asking them to give details on how they implemented early termination fees.

And in early May, the association released a public notice questioning industry and the community to recommend on methods to lessen bill shock.
