An outbreak of M-R-S-A has been declared at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital in Picton by Quinte Health Care.
It has been found that about half a dozen patients have been tested positive for the harmful bacteria known to be very resistant to anti-biotic.
It has been stated that those detected with the infection have not fallen sick or affected physically till now.
Quinte Health Care is taking serious measures to combat the infection by implementing various procedures.
The prevention drive includes isolation of the patients, restrictions from public places and group gatherings, cleaning the unit and introduction of some medical equipment.
According to Kathrine Stansfield of Quinte Health Care, presently about five patients have been tested positive for MRSA.
MRSA is an infection control problem where the patients do not apparently show any symptoms of having the infection however they carry it.
Quinte Health Care is trying to make sure that all necessary precautions are taken.
Stansfield added that the patients although are not showing any noticeable symptoms, but patients with unstable immune system are being taken extra care of as if they come in contact with the infection it can affect them differently.
Hospital's infection control team is evaluating and examining the situation daily.
