Fed Govt. Denies Making Alterations in its Broadband Network in Tasmania to Win

The Federal Government has sacked reports regarding its roll-out of the national broadband network in Tasmania is being changed, so as to win votes in the state's trivial northern electorates.

Next month Midway Point near Hobart, and Smithton and Scottsdale in the north will happen to the first Australian centers to have access to the NBN.

Tasmanian Premier, David Bartlett made announcement in the month of October last year that St. Helens, Triabunna, Deloraine, Sorell, George Town, Kingston Beach and South Hobart would be connected in stage two.

However, a report in The Australian newspaper in May was of the suggestion that the next phase would try to put its focus on the state's north instead.

At the time, a Spokesperson for NBN Tasmania said that the subsequent stages had not yet been confirmed. However, he said that the construction would be more well-organized if the next stages were constructed on existing broadband locations.

Mr. Bartlett announced that at the inauguration of the state's first NBN network operations centre in Hobart on Tuesday, Communications Minister, Stephen Conroy reaffirmed that stage two will connect homes in the regions of the north, south and east.

A great number of Tasmanians have already signed up to internet access on the NBN.
