A blundering bandit, who threatened staff with a syringe at St Andrews Chemist last Saturday afternoon, was left standing unaccompanied and perplexed, when the staff fled from the Midland pharmacy, where he was trying to rob. The man was demanding prescription drugs.
The staff responded by fleeing from the store, stated Detective Senior Constable Michael Mullaney.
He said, "The pharmacist and assistant immediately fled the pharmacy leaving the bewildered man standing empty-handed inside. No drugs were handed over and nothing appears to have been taken by the would-be robber".
He is a man who is assumed to be in his late 20s to mid-30s. He was about 178cm to 185cm tall and was slim. He wore a dark blue track suit with two silver-grey stripes down the pant legs. The suspect was carrying a black backpack, had a dark rimmed cap over his head and wore white sneakers.
Crime Stoppers can be called at 1800 333 000, by anyone who has information regarding the attempted robbery.
