It has been reported that Fru Hazlitt, the ex- Chief Executive of GCap Media, has been hired by ITV as Managing Director of Commercial and Online.
It is said that the ex- Yahoo! and Virgin Radio executive will substitute Rupert Howell.
Last week it was declared by ITV announced that Mr. Howell was quitting after a planned review by ITV’s new Chief Executive, Adam Crozier.
Ms Hazlitt, who will begin on August 2, is to be responsible of ITV’s internet and TV sales business, tasked with pressing profits out of the broadcaster’s programming.
The tasks of Ben McOwen-Wilson, ITV’s Managing Director for online will also be taken by her. Both Mr. Howell and Mr. McOwen-Wilson will quit in the summer.
Contrasting Mr. Howell, Ms Hazlitt will not sit on ITV’s panel, so her wage is private. Her precursor earned £833,000 in 2009.
ITV said her appointment signaled its intent “to more fully exploit its properties and brands commercially on all platforms and media.”
Ms Hazlitt left Virgin in 2007 to move to GCap Media. She was chief executive there for only five months before the Classic FM radio group was taken over by Charles Allen’s rival Global Radio in 2008 for £371 million.
