Spain's governing party calls Israeli attack on school "detestable"

Madrid - Spain's governing Socialist Party on Wednesday called Israel's attack on a school run by the United Nations in Gaza "detestable" and called for an immediate ceasefire.

"The bombing of schools with civilians inside cannot be tolerated," Socialist Party organizational secretary Leire Pajin said.

At least 46 Palestinians died in the school bombing.

Pajin welcomed Israel's decision to temporarily cease fire on the Gaza Strip and urged the country to stop it definitively.

She also urged the international community to ask Israel to comply with international agreements to save innocent lives. (dpa)
