It has been reported by the New York Times, that today, it was announced by Yelp that they'll be incorporating OpenTable's online reservation system straight into Yelp.
This will surely help people to reserve a table right there, after finding the restaurant they are looking for.
There is also a point system in OpenTable -- for each reservation, certain number of points (usually 100) is awarded and once you reach 2,000, a $20 gift certificate is presented to be used at any OpenTable restaurant.
This is said to be a good step taken by both firms, particularly because UrbanSpoon of late unrestricted a mobile app on iPhone and Android that searches as well as makes reservations.
Also, apparently, Yelp is continuously combating clashes over suspected corruption, so it cannot damage to roll out an attractive new feature.
It is said that the joint venture will commence in North America ahead of rolling out internationally at a later date.
