It has been reported that Via Rail trains will go around Toronto's Union Station at some point in part of the G20 summit week.
The rail Company said in a release on Thursday, that Via trains will not arrive or depart from Union Station from Thursday, June 24, through June 27,
In its place, Via is to use its housing stations in Oakville, Brampton, Oshawa and the Oriole GO Transit station in north Toronto.
VIA CEO Marc Laliberté said, "We regret the inconvenience these changes may cause, but we believe that making them well in advance and communicating this information to travelers now will help minimize access issues for our customers and ensure the continuity of our operations".
It is said that the summit runs from June 26-27 and will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, very near to the Union Station.
Travelers who need to catch linking trains at Union will be transported to and from the uptown stations in ferry buses.
With over 50% of all Via travelers travelling via the station, Union is Via Rail's busiest center.
It is said that Via trains carry over 11,000 passengers daily around Canada and the firm operates 503 intercity, transcontinental and regional trains each week.
It links 450 communities across its 12,500-kilometre path network.
