The annual meeting of American Society of Clinical Oncology to be held from June 4 to 8 in Chicago will see the research presentation of Abbott scientists and independent researchers.
The researchers will be presenting final clinical trial data on four of Abbott's investigational oncology compounds.
It has been informed that the presentations will be including data on inhibitors of VEGFR and PDGFR, PARP and bcl-2.
Also, in the highlights, humanized monoclonal antibody directed against CS1 is scheduled to be presented in the meeting.
The ongoing projects of Abbott include nine new molecular entities in the clinic that are related to treatment of more than 15 different cancers and tumor types.
According to John Leonard, Senior Vice President, Pharmaceuticals, Research and Development, Abbott, that the team is combating the biggest challenge as it prepares to stand against 12 million cancer cases that are detected annually, worldwide.
Leonard added that the diverse nature of the disease requires an assorted approach and that the team was working in the same manner.
The oncology pipeline of Abbott includes different approaches for a broad range of cancers and the main focus is going to be on areas of cancer research like bcl-2 and PARP inhibition.
The main intention of the projects is to target the processes that are required for cancers survivals combined with the help of advanced techniques.
