Volvo S60 Lives Up to Its Mark
Volvo S60 Lives Up to Its Mark

The Volvo S60 first emerged in 2000 as a substitute for the 850 and the Swedish marque's 3 Series Challenger.

It has carried on since then with only small facelifts.

Now at last, the second-generation S60 has been sampled in Portugal this week and will come into sight here later in the year.

Volvo states that the new model is the most vibrant one that it has ever introduced.

On the outside, the new S60 remains true to Volvo's present-day design themes.

The snout imitates the recently revamped C30 and C70.

The styling is more persuasive when looked at from the sides.

The inclined roofline provides the S60 a coupe-like outline, which is even more highlighted by the comparatively short boot line.

On the whole, the design is striking, resolute and well-proportioned.

Beneath the classy sheet metal is an all new cabin, which proffers superior quality materials, and considerably more rear legroom than earlier.

Volvo's trade mark floating centre console is omnipresent, but the large LCD screen that perches in between the centre air-con vents is a new element for the S60.

Like all present Volvo models, the front seats of S60 are very comfy and relaxing for all types of physical builds, even for long journeys.
