Bernard L. Madoff, who is currently fulfilling its sentence of 150 years in federal correctional complex in Butner, North Carolina, for deceiving investors of tens of billions of dollars in his vast Ponzi scheme, is still not repentant.
Madoff's has become a celebrity within the walls of his prison. It is reported that inmates refer him for trading advice and frequently seek his autograph. However, Madoff declined it.
In addition, Madoff also has a string of unlikely friends in the clink, like Jonathan Pollard, currently bearing their life sentence for spying for Israel, and Carmine Persico, head of the Colombo crime family.
But above all, Madoff, who has coated victims to the tune of at least $65 billion, largely shows not even a slightest felling of remorse for his crimes.
"F*** my victims," an inmate quotes Madoff as shouting. "I carried them for twenty years, and now I'm doing 150 years."
However, it is a good thing that the 72 year old Madoff has adapted in his prison wonderfully, as there seems to be no virtual chance of him ever being released for the jail.
