Comtech Mobile secures order worth $282 million

Satellite-based data communications provider Comtech Mobile Datacom Corp. has received a $282 million supply order from the U. S. Army to deploy its Movement Tracking System.

Under the arrangement, Comtech will supply newly upgraded ruggedized computers including ruggedized keyboards, docking stations, interface cables and base plates. All of which, the company says, will be integrated into previously deployed MTS systems.

The Germantown, Maryland-based subsidiary of Comtech Telecom has described the new contract as the biggest order it ever received so far from the U. S. military.

The company said that the contract has the potential to reach $605.1 million if all options are exercised. In addition, the firm does not expect to begin deliveries relating to the order until the "latter part" of its fiscal fourth quarter, which ends in July.
