Ford is planning to introduce "Send to SYNC" service including Google Maps, by the end of this month.
This service will permit the users to select a location on Google Maps and then send it to the SYNC on Ford, Mercury or Lincoln vehicles, without any expense.
The "Send to SYNC" is a supplement in association with Ford Service Delivery Network. It is Ford’s "cloud-based architecture". This offers a list of voice-activated services that can be obtained by the mobile phone user.
The service will be provided to the current 2010-11 Ford vehicles having SYNC with Traffic, Directions & Information (TDI).
The intended location can be sent on the Google Maps website to SYNC by finding the way to the "Send" menu on the site.
After this, when a driver connects to SYNC TDI in their vehicle, they will be allowed to confirm the request to download the selected Google Maps location. Then, he same is stored under "services" voice command.
Doug VanDagens, Director of Ford Connected Services Solutions Organization said that printing directions from a website is a historical thing in the digital age, presently.
Doug added that with 'Send to SYNC' one can map a destination to any place that has connectivity and this enables the vehicle to know in advance where one wants to go.
