Conroy Accused for “Misinformation” Regarding Wi-Fi
Stephen Conroy

The Communications Minister, Stephen Conroy had claimed that during the inspection of Wi-Fi access points, the internet banking particulars can be taken by Google's Street View cars. But this has been alleged to be a "misinformation" and Conroy has been accused for the same by Australia's peak organization for systems administrators.

The information given by Conroy was today declared to be a “misinformation verging on fear-mongering” by Systems Administrators Guild of Australia (SAGE-AU).

“While it is clear Google’s Street View cars collected more data than necessary – a practice not condoned by SAGE-AU – Internet banking data is safe from collection due to the nature of the communications from web browsers to Internet banking servers”, said the Group’s Spokesperson, Iain Robertson in a statement.

The office of Conroy has been contacted with this statement, expecting a response for the same. According to Robertson, in order to save some details, Secure Sockets Layer encryption standard was put into exercise as a part of several banking communications taken place over the net. He added that, it wasn’t really feasible for the records to be decrypted by unintentional recipients such as Google, even if some portions of Internet banking communications were intercepted by Google’s Street View cars.
