New Drug not Much Successful at Discovery Labs; Reveals no Harm

According to the figures and data, no noteworthy decline was seen by the lung drug at the time of mock breathing in kids; those who were suffering from severe respiratory malfunction. This has been reported by Discovery Laboratories Inc in its mid-stage study.

This experiment was done on 165 kids those who underwent this acute disease. They were given either of the two: the drug Surfaxin or the model drug. The study basically intended to examine security and acceptability of this drug and to see if the treatment by Surfaxin can reduce the period of mechanical aeration or not.

The Company did notice an alteration in the time of treatment by Surfaxin, accounting a 10% drop, but it wasn’t a major change, as compared to the results from the dummy drug.

"Statistically significant differences in the incidence of bradycardia and desaturation were observed in the Surfaxin treatment group during the dosing period versus the control treatment group”, the Company said.

Despite of the time period, it was found that the drug is otherwise safe and was well accepted. Further, the Company expects a progress in these attributions of the drug in the third quarter. The closing shares of the Company were $0.40 today.
