The sketched plans for the $10 million Midland GP Super Clinic are revealed by the Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon and the Member for Hasluck, Sharryn Jackson.
The plans were unfolded at the site, which is in the historic Midland Workshops building in Midland.
The plans have received a green signal from the Minister of Planning, following an in-depth discussion with the Heritage Council. The plans have now been sanctioned by the Midland Redevelopment Authority. The tender for erecting the clinic will soon be marketed.
It is known that the clinic will cover GPs, practice nurses, nurse practitioners, and also allied health professionals with psychologists, physiotherapists, dentists, pharmacy and aboriginal health workers.
In the new plans set for implementation, satellite clinic of Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service will be repositioned and extensive education and training conveniences for medical, nursing and associated health students will also be provided.
The proposed clinic will be functional from 8 a. m. to 10 p. m. for seven days a week and will lend a helping hand to the Midland Hospital in terms of emergency care.
Nixon said that the clinic is a noticeable investment contributing in providing health professionals for the Midland community as it will assemble new GPs and other health professionals for serving the “outer eastern suburbs of Perth”.
