UK Coal and Hargreaves End Merger Talks

It has been confirmed by UK Coal that it is no longer engaged in merger talks with Hargreaves Services. The news was also confirmed by Hargreaves Services.

Both the Companies had announced in March that they were engaged in merger talks.

Hargreaves Services agreed that UK Coal is a Company having valuable assets but they are not contemplating a merger at this stage.

On the other hand, UK Coal stressed that it had ramped up production at its coal mines in Kellingley, Yorkshire and Thoresby in Nottinghamshire. It was pointed that both these facilities are working at their full production levels.

The Company stressed that business is improving and production from both the facilities is according to the expectations and they are on track to achieve the target of 7.6million tonnes for the current year.

The Company is also very optimistic about its real estate business. It is also looking to sell a part of its agricultural estate and also is trying to enter into a joint–venture for its real estate business.
